Re-dedication of the Church Bells

Yesterday evening saw the culmination of a mammoth effort to replace the old, and rather heavy, church bells with a new and lighter set.  To start the evening a quarter peal was rung by some of the resident bell ringers and some guest ringers invited for the occasion.
This was followed by a very well attended service led by the Reverend Lydia Cook who then dedicated the bells and in a very witty address demonstrated a thorough knowledge of ring changing – and statistics!
After the conclusion of the service light refreshments were available and Bob Creighton, who has led the bell appeal throughout, then found a few eager volunteers to try ringing the dummy “bell” including your correspondent. It is much more difficult than it looks.
This was a historic, memorable and enjoyable evening and congratulations must go to Bob and all the others involved.
I apologise for the quality of the pictures which is consequence of the low ambient light and the reflection from the glass seperating the belfry from the chancel.
