Your Community needs you!

The Parish Council are the trustees of the QEII Playing Fields and Community Centre, and are working on plans to encourage greater use of this great space in the village. With no cricket or football team anymore the space is underused. We want to change that.

The old goal posts have been repainted in the hope that someone might feel encouraged to establish a football team. Smaller 5 a side goals have been purchased and erected which are more suitable for younger enthusiasts or how about an older walking football team?  Why not try them? Just bring your own football. We are grateful for a donation from CORGI for the goals.

A trial of croquet run by COMPACT went well run and we will work on improving that area of grass.

An area for boule and a table tennis table are planned. Ideally a walking or running track around the outside of the football pitch. There is a BBQ area available for anyone to use. More seating will be provided.

We are looking at improving the lower end of the field with an emphasis on the natural environment to include more trees and biodiversity.

All this takes considerable organisation, planning and of course finance. So it will not happen over night but hopefully over the next year of two there will be more reasons to visit our Rec. With greater use we stand a better chance of achieving funds to improve the Community Centre which remains a long term goal.
